This week I mapped out the composition onto my final outcome and started adding layers of paint to build up the different elements. I used a palette knife to draw out the house because it helped me get straight lines and accurate angles. I worked with the marks and colours from my background and layered washes and marks to bring the house out of the page. I looked at Ged Quinn's work because I like how his houses are often ominous compared to the background and I want my house to be almost sinister.

I used the same approach for the tent and I layered darker and lighter colours from the background to make the fabric folds. I also mapped out the trees and decided where the other tents should go to draw the eye around the painting.

Finally, I built up more shadows around the house and trees to add dimension.
